Calming at Christmas
I have found a way to calm down at Christmas time. It seems like so many people expect you to do so many things. I enjoy most of the activities, but sometimes, especially with a wedding coming too, I get a bit frazzled. So, when I start feeling a little overwhelmed, I go into the living room and sit by the Christmas tree and start enjoying the lights. I glance over at the empty nativity scene and just start thinking about the meaning of Christmas. I mean really, do you think life was easy for Mary and Joseph? Maybe quieter, but just as difficult. For some reason that calms me down and I can cope with my simple life. We have it pretty easy I think, washers, dryers, dish-washers, sewing machines, so many things to help us but it is too easy to see the hard and not focus on the blessings. My Christmas wish is to learn to focus on the blessings.

What a great idea.
I did that very thing this morning, woke up a little before my 3 little girls and just enjoyed the christmas tree in the early morning light. Very nice.
I love this idea, I try to do it once in a while right now, especially last week when I was going crazy with papers and finals! we kinda got yelled at the other day when a family member got offended because his daughter overheard us talking to someone else about why we don't tell Damian there's a santa claus- yes, I realise it makes it more fun, but I just realised I couldnt' justify lying to my kids for the first half of their lives, plus I really feel it takes the focus off of Christ, which is the whole reason we celebrate CHRISTmas. geez. anyways, I love to sit and look at the lights and appreciate the beauty the Lord has given us in this world.
Christmas lights seem to have that effect. Whenever we come home and it's dark outside and the Christmas lights are on, Elena asks us to leave the big lights off because it is just so beautiful.
