48 prisoners are being released from the Prison in Littlefield Texas and brought back to Idaho - this is a small percent of the 375 Idaho prisoners held there. Idaho needs to get with it and bring all of their prisoners home. Idaho works hard to rehabilitate their inmates. Texas is just a paid overseer. I am sure they mean well, but Idaho wants these prisoners helped and integrated back into society. We need to get them all home. There are more than 500 Idaho inmates in Oklahoma and Texas. I think it is easier to rehabilitate people when their families are close enough to visit and that isn't going to happen when the prisoners are in Texas. People need to pay for their crimes, but the hope is to help them improve.

I hear you there. I am glad to hear from Ben that life isn't completely horrible down there, but I know that Texas' reputation with their prisons is not good at all. They really don't even feed them all that well. Course, the inmates in Logan's jail are a bit spoiled, as their food is made for them by a catering company- doesn't mean it always tastes great, but according to Nate, he would eat it... except the oatmeal. That he wouldn't touch
I'm so glad I found your blog! Thanks for posting all the pictures at the bottom - I miss you guys so much!
Congrats to everyone in all their amazing accomplishments - everyone is so grown up!!!!
From what articles I have read on BCDC it is the better of the prisons Ben ended up in. It is interesting because the last article (July 2007) I read indicated that their would be now inmates returning. I wonder if those returning have parole dates and/or release dates coming up soon.
Two articles I found...basically saying the same thing. First Article, Second Article
wow. the article says that the only reasons they can see for the let-up in overcrowding is the "slow-down" in sentencing or something like that. dumb. Why is Idaho so quick to throw everyone in jail? I wonder how long it will take before they let everyone else come home? I wonder if Ben knows any of these guys? I wonder what factors determined letting these ones go home. I wonder a lot apparently.
