My mom turned 80

Chrissy planned a great birthday party for my mom and I got to help. First she contacted everyone she could who knew mom and had them write something for a book. Next she planned a surprise party for her. I found a restaurant in Salt Lake and Chrissy and Richard came to visit with her and brought her to the party About thirty people came and we ate and laughed and had a good time. By the way, the margarita looking drinks are non-alcoholic. Just thought I would add that little tid-bit

A Sunday Drive

After church last Sunday Calvin decided he wanted to take a drive. I like sight-seeing (at first I typed site-seeing, like the Internet??) so we took off. We drove about 20 minutes when he stopped and said, "I bet you will never see anything like this again." He pointed to some distant trees and I thought there were deer nestled in them. But when I got the binoculars out, they were owls, large, really large owls. I guess that is just where they spend the day before they get out and fly around. The owl is on the left side, about half way down. it is really big. I have heard owls at night - they sound so peaceful, well, unless you are a mouse.

Studying my Sunday School lesson

I was studying my lesson yesterday, it is on gaining a testimony of Christ. I think of all the lessons we have had all year, this one is the most important. Unless we come to know Christ we are wasting our time on Earth. And unless we strive to be like him, everything else is vanity. I think pride is the most dangerous thing there is. It keeps us from doing the things we need to do and from becoming who we need to become. It is so easy to fake it, to pretend we aren't who we really are. It is in times of stress that we see our worst selves. Then we can humble ourselves, if we will, and really come unto Christ. When we criticize and fault find, even when they really deserve it, then we are not being like Christ. Our Bishop spoke Sunday and quoted his father who said, "If you get offended when people didn't mean to offend you, you are a fool. If you get offended when they did mean to offend you, you are a bigger fool. Interesting.

And more Easter pictures

This is my green Easter bunny from when I was about 8 years old. Our little ones love to make it squeak.

Easter, Conference and snow

We had planned to be done moving at the beginning of Spring Break. We actually finished the last day. But we did get to visit with family and enjoy conference and Easter. Here are some of the things we did.

Good-bye Ol' Paint, I'm a leavin Cheyene.

Last night was the last night we slept in our home of 21 years. I woke up probably ten times with an old cowboy song going through my head.
"Good-bye Ol' Paint, I'm a leavin Cheyene. Good-bye Ol' Paint, I'm a leavin Cheyene. "I'm a leavin Cheyene, I'm off to Montana. Good-bye Ol' Paint, I'm a leavin Cheyene."
All night long this song came into my brain and I looked around my beautiful bedroom and knew it was gone. Oh well, they never said that the right thing to do is the easy thing to do. Lots of memories in that home.

So much going on

Our house sale is pending, depending on the potential buyer's home closing. It is quite emotional. We feel really good about moving, we love our new home and our neighbors. But leaving the home where we raised our children does pull on my heart strings. I remind myself that it is the children not the things. But there are the good friends in Montpelier who I love and it does hurt my heart. This has been a faith walk for me and fortunately and often the Lord assures me what we have done is right. We will go to the temple today with family and do sealings. We are enjoying our life here and that helps. Oh, I like those pictures, no snow!
