Texas Reception

We went to Fort Worth for Cynthia and Thomas' wedding reception, it was fun, well except for the car breaking down near Longmont Colorado. But the guy that fixed it did a great job and kept his place open two hours late to get us on the road. We were fortunate that the breakdown happened in Colorado where it was only 78 degrees. Texas and Oklahoma are a lot warmer. I didn't take a picture of the hotel we stayed in when I got sick again in Cheyenne. Whoa, it was scary, but it had a fridge and a microwave.
We did get to spend the week with my mom, we went to Dealey Plaza (where JFK lost his life) which has been a curiousity of Calvin's forever. We went skeit (sp) shooting with Cynthia's family - I didn't do really well, but everyone else did. Calvin and I went to the Oklahoma City memorial, what a quiet place they have made there. Even at 99 degrees we found it a comforting place.

Gardenias, camellias, tasting and smelling

When I was younger and lived in Pomona we had a gardenia bush and a camellia bush in our backyard. They weren't very big. I used to love to just sit there close enough to be able to smell the gardenias. The camellias were also beautiful. I have always loved to smell flowers. So I bought a gardenia plant. Two of the flowers are just blooming. They are beautiful and I am sure they smell wonderful, but I cannot smell much of anything anymore. I had hoped that because of their strong sweetness that I could smell them, but I can't. So today I am grateful, that while I could still smell things that I took the time to do it. I would stop and smell gardenias and camellias and roses. And I will keep trying to smell my gardenias. Maybe I can't smell them but I remember the pleasure the smells used to give me and I am grateful for that.

Our house is on Craigslist

Our home is for sale officially. I just hope it goes quickly. Janelle called this morning to tell me it was on, with pictures. I about cried when they put the for sale sign on the house, but you know, it is just time to move on. It is time.

Christopher graduated

Christopher graduated from ISU. Here are some pictures. Our grandson loved the "hat" He said, "Hey Daddy, I like your graduation hat, it's cool!"

Our friend's home is gone

Doug and Tammy Steven's home burned down today. The family is safe. The strawberries behind the home survived.

So, how was your tea-party?

I put a message on the radio that if anyone was interested in holding a tea-party to call me. No one called, no one called, no one called. Finally I decided I would make up my own flier, copy them at the library and hand them out at the grocery store. But the store manager said that wasn't ok - but I could put the fliers on the cars. So that is what my plan was. I did get one call the night before and two calls while I was handing out the fliers. It was cold, freezing, blowing, snowing and very wet cold. I didn't want to put the fliers on the windshields cause of the snow so I folded them up and stuck them into the door handle or in the door. Calvin came and gave me some gloves cause mine had fallen into the slushy water and my hands were so cold. I handed out 100 fliers and then went home. I just wish I could have done more, but I couldn't just sit home and do nothing. I think this spending will cripple our country. You cannot spend yourself out of debt. You buckle your belt, including the Congress who got pay increases this year. You tell everyone else to buckle their belts. You don't borrow money from your enemies, and you find things to sell to other countries. (like oil?) It is simple economy. Make a penny spend two pennies and you will always be poor. Make a penny save half a penny, you will be rich.

April 15th Tea Party

When our founding fathers felt that King George had gone too far in taxing the people, they held a tea party and threw tea into the harbor. Today we are holding tea partys all over the country on April 15th. This is to show our unity and anger about the direction this country is taking. Our closest tea party is a 2 1/2 hour drive and I don't know if I can go. So I am encouraging everyone to find a tea party in their area and go. Stand up for our constitution, stand up for our righteous traditions. The hope is that if we do stand up for what is right, that our "leaders' will see that we are fed up and are ready to revolt against their unconstitutional actions. Please, spread the word, go to these meetings and stand up for truth and righteousness. If we don't, then we are part of the problem not part of the solution. Most of these are in the evening. If anyone hears of one in Logan, please let me know cause I really want to go.
